Project Summary
The Jefferson retirement home in Arlington, VA—managed by Sunrise Senior Living—required concrete and masonry repair on the exterior façade. East Coast Rigging & Scaffolding was the access solution dealer on the project.
Challenges
Bump outs, tight corners, and other challenges made this job complicated for just one type of access equipment to accomplish. Mast climbers are large, expensive, and could not reach the gables; scaffolding is time consuming to set up; and other equipment simply could not handle the detail work effectively. In addition, the contract spanned approximately two years, so minimizing costs while maximizing efficiency was necessary to stay on track and on budget.
Solution
The PowerMast was the most practical solution for the access problems on this project. While mast climbers were used for some of the heaviest tasks, the PowerMast handled the bulk of the finish and detail work where other systems couldn’t reach. In some instances, the PowerMast was installed on top of scaffolding, demonstrating the benefits of working in conjunction with other methods to increase effectiveness and efficiency. With over 42 installs on this project, the PowerMast allowed for tremendous cost savings when compared to other access solutions.
